Cat Eye Eyeliner and Makeup Tutorial
There are specific techniques to apply for every type of eye makeup style you are looking to achieve. While some may be more detailed, many start off with the same basics. One of the popular looks today in fashion is the cat eye. In this article we will share some steps for how to apply the cat eye eyeliner and makeup to complete your look.
1. Start with a primer. This can be your choice but it is usually a shade that is close to your own natural skin tone. Many people find that using cream bases allows you to evenly distribute and blend your colors into your skin without flaking or visible blemishes. This can work for both base colors and other shades and hues you apply to your eye lids. Be sure when you apply your base coat that you cover from where your eyelashes connect to your lid and all the way up to your brow line. A sparkle primer works better than a matte for this look.
2.Next you want to grab your eyeliner and shadow colors. Using a brown shade collection will work for most cat eyes to give it the right look. Take a dark rich brown shade and dip the tip of your brush into it, then run it along the upper lid along the lash line bringing it out toward the outer edges of your eye and out. This will give you an almond shaped look to your eyes which is what you are after.
3. Next you want to start the blending process. Taking your brush, start from the outside and work in creating a fuller look which slowly thins out as you reach the inside corner of each eye.
4.The next step is to apply the eye liner to give yourself that cat eye look. Remember when applying eye liner onto your eyes that you need to pay attention to their size. If you have small eyelids, you need to keep the line thin or your eyelids will disappear on you, whereas if you have big eyelids, you can draw in a thick line without worry. It doesn’t matter if you choose to go with a liquid liner or a cream based pencil. It all depends on what you have and feel more comfortable applying with the least amount of errors. This eyeliner can be black or dark brown.
5. When applying your liner, you want to make sure that you start along the upper lash line from the outside working in. Then blend in the line you just drew on your upper lid creating a smoother line with no gaps. When you are done blending and reach the outer edge of your eye blend it up and out for an extended effect. For a more dramatic cat eye, the liquid liner will stand out more and can be applied even over top of the eyeliner cream pencil and then made to extend even further outward.
6. Once you have completed the upper lid, you will then work on the lower lid. Start from the outside and work your way in. You will want it thicker on the outer edges and making a thinner line as you work inwards. If you choose for a more blended and extreme look, you can also apply your liner to the inner rim of your eye. Some people find that doing so just irritates their eyes so it is entirely up to you.
Once your eyes are done, it is time to do up the rest of your face. You can choose your lipstick and blush, and don’t forget to add your mascara for the final touch. This is cat eye look is more for a night on the town or somewhere exotic or out of the ordinary.
